Hemp insulation offers a healthier option to the status-quo synthetic materials, such as fiberglass batting, and has a comparable R-value at 3.5 per inch of thickness. Sometimes combined with flax products and treated with a non-toxic compound, the material can be fire retardant and is naturally insect repellent.
